5 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR DRIVING UP TO DATE

As your instructor, I know you are all feeling frustrated that you can´t continue with your driver training. Waiting until March will not be much fun but I will do my best to get you behind the wheel as soon as possible after the lock-down.

Here is my advice to keep things moving:

1. If you haven´t passed your theory yet, get studying over the next 4 weeks and get a booking date for after the lockdown.

2. Even if you have passed your theory, keep revising 30 mins every week, road signs, road layouts especially, and the highway code. In addition, do some online exercises on developing hazards. There is a great CD, cheap on Amazon. Request the link and I´ll send it to you.

3. Keep an eye on practical test dates. Before the lockdown, July was the earliest available. The waiting time will probably get longer.

4. If you are lucky enough to to have access to a family or friend´s car, get some insurance and drive! If you feel confident and able, drive to the shops and back. Try and follow some of the road routes we have already done together in previous lessons. (Please check with the Gov.uk as recenty declared it illegal to drive whilst learning. You could be stopped by Police, given a fine, penalty points and your insurance may be invalid.)

5. Think about your last 2 lessons with me. Write down your driver faults we identified, solutions we discussed and what we agreed you need to do to drive better and safer.
